How does a Web Site become a Web
Site
| This month we tried to clear up some of the mystery on how a web site
becomes a web site. I don't think we are going to put any professional
web masters out of business, but we all have a better understanding of
how it is done.
There are three basic steps to constructing a web site:
-
Find out what the server directory name is that will "host" your web site...it
will probably start with FTP://
-
Construct your web site using any number of tools. For demonstration purposes,
we used Netscape Communicator's Composer function to create a web site
-
Now upload your site using a "publish" feature of your software or another
FTP program (my favorite is FTP Explorer).
Again, this was just a brief overview of how to put up a very basic
web page, but you can refer to some of the following sites for more information:
Builder.com from CNET
