Take your music with you
anywhere! Learn how to use your computer
to manage your music, burn music CD's and use
an MP3 player!
MP3's are a method of compressing audio to take up less space.
MP3 does not have a particular meaning, it is simply a standard by which audio
can be compressed...usually compresses audio at a rate of about 3:1 or so.
Another newer method of compressing audio is WMA (Windows Media Audio) and it
can compress audio almost twice as much as the already small MP3 format. And to
throw another format into the ring, MP3 Pro format was just released which has
compression close to that of WMA.
What does all this techno babble mean to you and I? It
means that we can now take more music with us where ever we want to go in less
space!! With the advent of MP3 audio players and MP3 capable CD players, we can
now take hundreds of hours of music with us in the fraction of the space and
weight we used to use. AND, you can use these sleek little devices to listen to
audio books!
In today's classes, we discussed what MP3 players are, how to
convert your music from CD's to MP3 or WMA format, how to transfer music to your
MP3 player, and what the pro's and con's of the different MP3 players are.
