Netgear Press Event

Submitted by Rick on January 6, 2008 - 2:17pm.
  • CES 2008

The Netgear PC was packed full of people and the PR people were extremely enthusiastic about the upcoming year. Netgear supplies a wide array of wired and wireless networking equipment for the home. Last year they released 48 new products...is that really a plus?

At the meeting they announced three new products aimed at the home market. The first is new wireless router that promises to extend the reach and speed of the wireless signal. No price was announced with it. The second product was for streaming audio and video and high speed Internet console gaming throughout your house with no stuttering or dropping of video frames...again no price. The last product was a Network Accessible Storage (NAS) device that has up to 2 terabytes of storage for sharing music, photos, files and videos to your entire network.

They promised that their devices would provide easier and more secure network setups than any other brand. The CEO also talked about their commitment to maintain an ecofriendly approach to creating their devices.

A highlight for me was the new function that Netgear added to their routers that allow the user to toggle on or off the wide array of flashing UFO type lights on top of their wireless routers.
