Delete only one entry from Internet Explorer Address Bar (history)- Video Tip
The address bar in Internet Explorer (or any web browser) allows you to type in known web sites and visit them quickly. Sometimes you might want to clean out individual entries from the address bar or history, but this isn't possible in Internet Explorer unless you edit the registry. Watch the video below to learn how to perform this delicate Windows tweak. The video has a surprise ending to make this process a whole lot easier!
Here are the registry steps for Internet Explorer to delete an individual entry from the address bar:
- Close any open windows or programs
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type: regedit
- WARNING: Registry editing is for experienced computer users only. Mistakes made in the registry can render your computer and Windows useless. Proceed at your own risk.
- Click the "+" sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Click the "+" sign next to Software
- Click the "+" sign next to Microsoft
- Click the "+" sign next to Internet Explorer
- Click TypedURLs
- Delete all the URLx (e.g. URL1, URL2 and so on) that you do NOT want to see in the address bar
- Close the registry editor.

Old IE could do this...
It's so weird because I don't know what version changed it, but I know for sure that I used to be able to delete individual entries by right clicking on the url in the bar and deleting. And I have only had IE on those computers. In any case, gonna try this out and hope it works!

i used ie after clearing all history and so on i wont find any urls but when i start typing a word i saw all porn sites i visted with similar beginnings and how 2 delete this

deleting address history
hi, i have managed to delete all of the drop down urls that come up when you click on the drop down arrow on the right of the address bar, but i still need help.
when you type urls into the address bar the computer remembers previous urls you have typed beginning with that letter, e.g
If i want to go onto youtube, when i type "www.y", loads of other sites beginning with "y" come up on the drop down bar, sites I looked at weeks ago! Iv'e tried going to Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files . Delete Cookies . Clear History , but nothing works.

I have tried the regestry method, and still to no avail. I have one site which for which I never typed the address. However it shows up in my address bar drop down (only when the autocomplete is on). I cannot find this address anywhere, yet it is always there. How do I eliminate this?
Bite the bullet
You will probably need to use the Delete all temporary files and history option in IE or better yet, switch to Mozilla Firefox.
deleting address from the explorer
i have followed steps according to the vedio but when i tried to access my other web addresses by scrolling down the address bar i saw that my other site addresses that i didnt wanted to delet also deleted. what can you sugesst on that. i just deleted only two addresses.

I usually clear my history from, tools, internet options etc but I have two addresses that will not clear! So I followed the steps above to try and clear them from the registry but the links were not there?? My laptop runs with windows XP, can you help please?

Deleting address from Internet Explorer
Thanks for the recent video tip! I most recently entered a website that I will often frequent, but inadvertently typed .com instead of .net. Now that I know how to delete the entry, I have removed the .com website only leaving the .net.
Although you said that only experienced computer users should go into the registry, you have simplified the process thus making it easy to understand and accomplish.
