Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X

I keep getting a warning that Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X
is slowing down and will eventually crash the computer.
I uninstalled it? Is that ok. Not sure just where it came from? I remember an Active x on Microsoft. Can anyone fill me in on why I need it or don't need it?
