Computer Desk

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 26, 2007 - 12:21am.

Mine is an old standard JIS Japanese office desk. The surface is really too high for the keyboard, but I live with it. On the desk I made a frame from DIY plastic coated iron aluminum pipe. It is about a meter wide and tall and 50cm deep. One desktop and one laptop on the bottom level, my printer, books and supplies on the second and more supplies and books on the top. No room for the scanner at present. It sets on top of a doll case next to the desk. The shelves are "borrowed". The middle shelf is the "table" for a hospital bed and the top is the extra "top" for a Kimono chest. (You get two tops with the chest. Only one is necessary when you use the two pieces stacked.)

We need a picture

Submitted by Rick on March 26, 2007 - 8:15am.

This sounds like quite a setup. Send us a photo and we will post it with your comment. Anyone else who has a unique or cool computer setup and wants to share it, send a photo to questions (at) helpmerick.com

My desk

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 27, 2007 - 7:18am.

You really don't want a picture. I am probably one of the five sloppy.est people in the world. It is really a mess. If I straighten it up a bit, I may send a picture. Actually it serves me fairly well, but if we ever have a real good shake here (like they had on the other side of the island yesterday) I will be buried under a ton of dictionaries and manuals.

Computer desk

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 24, 2007 - 10:39am.

Sort of.... It works so-so, but I have modified it to do what I need it to do. I use it for my lap top, mainly because my lap top needs to be plugged in all the time, the battery only lasts about 15 minutes at best, which isn't even enough time to check my email (and it wasn't any better when it was brand new, about a year ago.) Computer Desk

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 24, 2007 - 11:17am.

My husband designed and built our computer desk BEFORE we got a flat screen monitor so now the desk is bigger than we need.

Custom built

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 24, 2007 - 9:34am.

I designed and built my own desk. It isn't pretty, but it has what I need, where I need it.

I bought a desk from Office

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 23, 2007 - 10:17am.

I bought a desk from Office Depot and put it together for a new desktop, last July. I paid less than $100 and it is a good fit for my Gateway GM 5084.

Antique furniture works well for computer

Submitted by Smart Computer User on March 23, 2007 - 8:51am.

My office is furnished with all antique furniture. I have retro-fitted one library table with a retractable keyboard holder in such a manner as it will not lower the value of the table. I have a laptop on that table. On an old teacher's desk, everything fits just perfect due to the flat panel monitor. Aong with two filing cabinets and another library table I find that everything thing works real well. I don't really see the need to buy specific computer furniture with computers and accessories being made smaller and smaller.
