How to get around Windows XP user password

Solutions

A caller recently inherited a computer with a password enabled for getting into Windows. Here are two ways to disable or delete the required password.

1. Turn on the computer.

2. Immediately begin pressing the F8 key over and over in about half second intervals.

3. A menu will come up asking how you want to boot - choose SAFE MODE.

4. Windows will come up with two user accounts, click on the Administrator account.

5. Once Windows starts up (it will look ugly, but work the same) go to Start->Control Panel.

6. Double-click on User Accounts.

This is where you have two choices:

Create a new user account using the option in menu and delete the old user accound

Click on the user account then click REMOVE PASSWORD.

Turn the computer off and back on and things should be back to normal.

Unless you are doing something super secret, we don't recommend putting paswords on user accounts.

i would go with the idea start up your computer get it in to safe mode then it comes up with your acconts pluss one extra 'administrator' click on he adiministrator account its should automatically login wthout askig you for a password if i does contact the person who set up the computer and ask them what is is??? if it does not ask you go to start click on 'control pannel' then click 'user accounts' then you will either have the option to remove the password from the account you want to gain acces to or you can change it.

my husband bought a laptop and put a password on it. how can I get the password to check to see what he is looking at on the laptop. he has recently been distant and asked for a divorce, we have only been married for a few months. can anyone please help??

Better way. Create a boot disk/CD with this utility.

I think they have updated how it is done or did away with it.

on some of the windows os computers when it ask for a password for the adminstrators account the password is defaulted to admin

if it asks for a supervisors, or admins, password then you may not be in the right thing and you may be in the bios set-up, you may want to retry and this time make sure that the computer is using white text on a black background, not white on blue, theres a difference and that difference is your going to piss off the owner of the computer by not letting him use said computer till you remember the pass word you stet on it!
