NTI CD & DVD Maker 7
We have reviewed many previous versions of NTI CD & DVD Maker, but this version is by far the best becaues of its simple interface and variety of options.
Once NTI CD & DVD maker is installed there is only one place to go. Many CD and DVD burning programs provide multiple programs and a fair amount of study in necessary to know where you should go depending on the project you are working on.
With NTI's program double-clicking on a single NTI CD & DVD Maker icon will take you to a central program that directs you in an easy to understand fashion.
If you are creating a Data CD or DVD, simply click on Data. There are also options for creating video, audio or photo disks. The copy feature will create a duplicate of any disk and the backup option is great for creating a backup disk of photos or other files.
Once you pick a project, a break down of options appears. Don't expect feature packed image or video editing options here, but the options that are provided rival anything else that Nero or Roxio use.
If all you are looking for is a program that allows you to burn CDs or DVDs from time to time, this progam should be given a serious look. I have installed NTI CD & DVD maker on computers running very old CD burners drives and it has always recognized the hardware.
I have installed new CD burners and NTI has recognized them without a hitch. Roxio often has difficulties recognizing drives that are either too old or too new, this doesn't seem to be a problem for NTI.
The only weakness of NTI is its ability to read drive images made by other burning programs like Roxio and Nero. This is really being picky, but there are many programs out there now that allow you to backup your CDs and DVDs onto your hard drive or other disks as image files. These image files are small. The image files can later be used to create copies of the backed up disks if the original is lost or broken. CD & DVD maker does not support many of these image formats.

Hi

how do i solve this problem.

System Restore
If you can get into safe mode or your desktop, try System Restore to move your computer back to a date when it was acting properly.
I also cannot get mine to work on my Acer pc.
Granted I am computer illiterate, I have read and read everything I can get my hands on to figure this out and I can't figure out how to get my nti to burn a dvd that will work in a dvd player. It always says "files not available in file type."
I also have an Acer pc and
I also have an Acer pc and have Windows Vista.
I can burn the DVD's & CD's OK, but they don't play in all DVD players or computers. I also can't get into the 'Help'. It come up with that I'm not online, when I am!
Walter is right
The same thing happened when we could first start burning CD's...some players could read them, some couldn't. To be on the safe side, always use DVD-R or DVD+R to have the most compatibility.
Creating DVD's
I have found that older DVD players and computers (I have a DVD player in my office that is about 8 years old) cannot play the DVD's that my wife creates with her software. However, it plays in our other DVD player and most other computers (it would not play on my computer with Windows 2000). It has something to do with the coding and what the players were programmed with, in my opinion.

Making a DVD is complicated
Granted, I don't know anything about the process you are using or the type of video you are making, but I do know that creating DVDs that will work in a set top DVD player can be very tricky. Even if the process works correctly, you also must have a set top DVD player that will recognize the drive and the disk must be burned as a video DVD. Just recording it to a DVD disk does not make it a true video DVD.
I have exactly the same
I have exactly the same problem with my Acer laptop and I dont know how to deal with it.
NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY on PC at time of purchase
Double click on Desk top icon / short cut and get message:
%1 was not installed properly, or it was altered. Please reinstall the software of contact technical support.
Cannot reinstall the software, came "allegedly" installed in pc prior to my purchasing Acer pc.
Acer responded and basically suggested Using Recovery disk. I have no desire to do that, causing me then to have to reinstall ALL software, including Software for my email.
Thnx. Mary

Hi
You can also use Acer Recovery Management but use Recover Actions->Reinstall applications/drivers instead of full restore from backup.
This will allow You to reinstall NTI from hidden ACER partition, where all OEM software is stored. That helps for Acer notebooks, not sure if Desktops have same partition...
