Another reason to use Picasa

I mentioned in yesterday's Shotgun that I took nearly 900 photos on my recent vacation. You have read and heard us hype the free Picasa digital photography software from Google many times. The features and execution of the features are nothing short of wonderful. I use Picasa to upload and organize my photos after a trip. Then I usually upload the photos I want to print to my favorite online photo developer (Shutterfly ) and get a bound book made of my favorite 100 or so photos for less than the cost of developing three rolls of film.

I usually use the online service's upload utility to push my photos to them for creation of my memory books. However, my pictures now range in size from 800 KB to nearly 2 MB and the upload utilities don't always work well.

Looking for an alternative, I selected the photos I wanted in Picasa, then clicked the "Order Prints" button at the bottom of the screen. Lo and behold, Picasa interfaced with Shutterfly (and many other online services including Walgreens and Wal-Mart). I entered my Shutterfly username and password and Picasa uploaded the entire set of pictures to my service. No fuss, no muss...just the way technology should work.
