The Treo strikes again

Submitted by Rick on September 14, 2006 - 9:34pm.

I'm in Texas right now golfing with a couple of golf buddies. Last year when we met for golf in Colorado, they like the functionality of the Treo 650 that I carry and use daily. Since then, they both purchased and have become enamored with the unbelievable device. Today, we used the Treo to find a new golf course, look up golf course numbers, calculate our scores, and call our families. These two guys are not techno geeks, but physical therapists (my first profession). However, they both are complete converts to the Treo Smartphone.

Treo 650

Submitted by Smart Computer User on September 18, 2006 - 3:42pm.

I too just purchased a Treo 650. I already had a contract with Verizon Wireless and was eligible for a phone upgrade so I applied that credit towards the Treo. I like the phone but am experiencing some difficulties in learning how to use the features. Just one example is syncing my desk top palm data with the Treo. I am trying to use both my desk top computer at home and my computer at my store ( I own both computers) but have only succeeded in using the one at home. For some reason I can't sync the data at my work computer into the Treo.

I wish the local community college had a course on this!

Help is here

Submitted by Adam on September 23, 2006 - 11:44am.

This is a common question and it is totally possible, but you have to set it up carefully. If you don't set it up right, you run a risk of deleting all of the info from your Treo which can lead to deleting it from your working computer.

We typically don't advise that people try to sync a PDA to two different devices, but it can be done. The trick is to setup the less important device to "Handheld overwrites desktop."

As for formal training, if you are in Grand Junction, Rick and I have been using Palm devices for at least 6 years and we would be happy to give you some tutoring. Just give us a call.

If you are outside Grand Junction, visit TreoCentral and visit the forums. There is likely someone in those forums that is in your area and willing to help.
