Some interesting web finds....
After years of reading computer magazines and trying to keep all my info straight, I finally came up with an idea to make my reading more streamlined and my retention a little higher. Actually, it is just like taking notes in school, but I didn't make the connection for about 15 or more years. Now, I keep a notebook with me when I read the trade magazines, and I jot down web sites or tips that I read, that I want to read more about later. Then I can throw out or recycle the magazine. Clutter is kept at bay and knowledge is increased (hopefully). Here are my most interesting finds over the past month:
- Avvenu - a free remote access software that can be used to view your photos and documents from any computer or smart phone
- Process Library finder - this is a geeky site, but will help you identify some of the programs that run in the background of your computer. Again, geeky, so don't get frustrated if it doesn't make sense, but expect us to talk about it from time-to-time on the show as we help people with their problems.
- This site is similar to the last one .
- Start a Wiki - A wiki is a site where multiple users can contribute to the site's creation and data from any computer. This site offers a 5 user Wiki that might be helpful to people trying to coordinate a project. It can also be great for families to work with as well.
- A FREE online office suite - a very cool implementation of an online spreadsheet, word processor, and presentation manager. You need to have a broadband connection to take advantage of this, but it works well.
- Google just bought this company so you know something is attractive about it. Like my previous site, this site offers an extremely ingenious online word processor. You have to try it to believe it.
- Ink jet printer rollers (especially older HP models) can become smooth and lose their 'grip' and ability to grab and feed paper properly. This product allows you to restore the rollers to their original glory.
