Telecommunications Bundling
Almost two years ago, I wrote an article (click here) about knowing how much you pay for your telecommunications every month. Telecommunications costs include cell phone, long distance, land line phone, cable or satellite TV, and Internet costs. I use the method I described in that article to help people get more of a handle on their tech costs and features and often save them money while getting better services.
I'm not going to rehash that article today, you can read it by clicking the link above, but I DO want to hear from you about bundling services together. Do you currently bundle your Internet, phone, and TV under one umbrella? If so, do you like the concept and does it work well for you? Do you think it saves you money? If you aren't currently bundling services, why not? Is it not available in your area? Do you prefer the a la carte approach? Or are you just completely satisfied with your current services and don't want to change?
That's a lot of questions, but I think if we can generate some comments from those questions, it will help others decide whether bundling makes sense to them or not. Go ahead! Leave a comment below answering some of the questions I just proposed. I currently do not bundle because I live on the out skirts of town and can't get our local cable service and would bundle with them if I could, but am currently happy with our telecommunications systems and don't have many options to change.
Go ahead, leave a comment below and please share your experience with bundling!

Bundling
The area we live in Delta only offers dial-up with Qwest which is used as our land line for computer use and local calling (this is about $25) but no long distance. We have a couple of Sprint phone cards 3.7 cents a minute for long distance. This is about $30 every 6 or 7 months. We have cell phones which are the cheapo phones where you add minutes. It works ok (about $40-50 a month). We have basic dish network about $25.00 per month). Total amounts to $100 to $105.00 a month.
Bundling Services
We cannot bundle due to our semi-rural location, five miles East of Cedaredge. So, TDS Telecom for land line phone; Verizon for cell phone (spotty reception at home so we can't dump the land line phone); Direct TV for television; and wireless internet through Sopris Surfers in Carbondale. These are the only services of their kind in our area. Otherwise we would probably bundle if it saved money.

We use Bresnan only for internet (no TV), and use cell phones exclusively (even with the most inexpensive package, the "long distance" never runs us over our alotted minutes) and no land line. Don't see a need for land lines if we have cell phones. Works for us!
Bundling
We added Bresnan's phone service to our internet and TV package once our Qwest bill went over $40 - the $6 or so long distance service charge plus per-minute plus tax made me think a bit more clearly. The added cost from Bresnan was only about $25 - saving at least $15 and giving us the comfort of not worrying about how long we talked with the kids. Guess I'm a little slow, but we like all the add-ons. And, Bresnan's only gone down for a couple of hours (so far so good).
Bundling
My service is Bresnan. I bundle cable TV, internet and phone and have a savings in long distance phone calls of about $30/month. The other two services are about equal to anywhere else.

Bundling with Cox
We bundle our services with Cox in Phoenix. It has saved us money, and the Cox cable internet is really fast. The Digital cable is great. We tried to remove some of the extras on the phone service, since we don't need the long distance, our cell phones have all we need, and by making a change we would have to pay $30 per month MORE, so we are stuck.

bundling services
I have Bresnan cable bundle. I works fine most of the time and I lone high speed internet. I can't tell any difference with the phone than Quest. The cable tv is cable tv. I am planning on moving across town and may switch to Quest because after a year was past Bresnan started raising the monthly charges. Rich N C
