Weekly Computer Help Show - 04-24-08 Podcast

Submitted by Rick on April 24, 2008 - 10:54pm.
  • Artist: Rick Castellini & Adam Cochran
  • Title: Weekly Computer Help Show - 04-24-08
  • Album: HelpMeRick.com
  • Genre: Other
  • Year: 2008
  • Length: 55:08 minutes (25.24 MB)
  • Format: MP3 Mono 44kHz 64Kbps (CBR)

Our show went much better tonight because of our new chat room policy. To cleanup the riff-raff in our live video chat during the show, we have instituted a Stickam Members Only policy for the chat room. During the show, anyone can watch and listen and still email us, but if you want to join in and chat directly to us or the other folks in the room, you must be a Stickam member.  Becoming a Stickam member is FREE and only requires that you visit the Stickam site, click the giant, blue Join Now button, and answer a few questions (always write down your user name and password). It's quick and painless.

Thanks to all the regulars who signed up this week for Stickam and joined in on the live show. We appreciate it.

Enjoy the pocast and keep spreading the word about HelpMeRick.com!!

Friends Only probably isn't necessary. The spammer only showed up, what... 3 times? At that's just because this was the first week we tried out this members only thing. Making new accounts repeatedly eventually becomes a burden, since you need to generate a new email address to do it. Considering that it's all just a one-line bit of spamming, the guy will most likely wear himself out.

Let the guy just be practice for the trigger finger of the moderators in the room. That way, his existence just becomes a game. :)

I agree with User 8:53am

Everyone wants registration. It's a pain. If you require it, you will get your loyal subjects and a very few new people. The Montrose Daily Press went to registration, and now they get about the same 5 people with nothing else to do commenting on articles. Before registration, they had diverse and plentiful comments. It can't be that hard to block a jammer for experts like you guys.

Registration is for Thursday night chat only

Submitted by Rick on April 25, 2008 - 10:45pm.

I agree. We have no intention of instituting a registration here at HelpMeRick.com.

The only thing were doing is going to a "Members Only" live chat on Thursday nights. Anyone can watch and listen and email us without registering at the Stickam.com site (our video host), they just won't be able to participate in the live chat.

Thanks for your comments!
